Francie
wrote a wonderful blog
entry about "women in IT".
During the day I thought more about this topic and I have come to
the conclusion that the problem is deeper and that there is only one way
to handle this.
There is something every person in the
world has a right to, but unfortunately so many won't find out in their
everyday life. Regardless of whether you are more interested in Immanuel
Kant or in Aretha
Franklin, the one thing I talk
about is respect.
Many people walk through life and belief
that they are more worth than others. I just cannot understand how they
get to this misbelief. Is it because they happen to earn a little more
or because they drive a bigger car?
In our branch this misconception sometimes
has to do with belief to know more than others. It is often overlooked
that nobody could be perfect in all fields. The deeper your knowledge in
one area is the more it lacks in another area.
There is the expression that you "must
deserve respect". In my opinion it is the other way round. I treat
everyone with respect. The person retains this respect as long as they
prove to be worth it. Usually they lose it treating others disrespectful.
I am utterly convinced that we could
solve many problems of this world treating each other respectful. Whether
men or women, whether young or old, whether white or black or yellow or
red or green, regardless of faith or point of view, everyone deserves respect.
Thank you for charing my philosophical
thoughts on this subject. The next blog entry will again be a more technical
one. Promised! I really appreciate you took time to read our blog.
Respect yourself and respect everybody
else.
