AppleInsider reports that Apple has delivered a first rough implementation of its announced "Push Notification Service" for the iPhone to some of its developers, not directly enabling background applications, but allowing push notifications for the iPhone through a central server.
This could (!) be the missing part needed by IBM or other software vendors to create a push mail solution for the iPhone and IBM Lotus Domino.
